Join Our Team as a Museum Attendant

8 weeks for 35 hours per week

$16.00 per hour 


 

About Us:

Welcome to the Heritage Models Museum, a unique institution dedicated to celebrating the rich cultural heritage of [specific region] through the art of folk modeling. Our museum specializes in showcasing meticulously crafted 1/12 scale models of local historic landmarks, offering visitors a captivating journey through time.


Responsibilities:


Maintenance Duties:
 

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the intricate models, ensuring they are presented in pristine condition.
  • Collaborate with the facilities team to address any repairs or enhancements needed within the museum space.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of exhibition areas and common spaces.


Tour Guide:
 

  • Conduct informative and engaging tours, providing fascinating insights into the historical significance of each model.
  • Tailor tours to various audiences, including school groups, tourists, and special interest groups.
  • Stay updated on the museum's exhibits, events, and relevant historical information.
     

Gift Shop Operations:
 

  • Assist in managing the Heritage Models Museum gift shop, including restocking merchandise and maintaining an organized display.
  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors, answering inquiries and assisting with purchases.


Overall Museum Duties:
 

  • Collaborate with other museum staff to support special events, educational programs, and exhibitions.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge of folk art, local history, and museum collections.
  • Support administrative tasks as needed, including ticket sales and data entry.
     

Qualifications:

  • No educational experience necessary; preference will be given to candidates with education or training in history, museum studies, or related fields. 
  • Previous experience in a museum, cultural institution, or customer service role is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using basic computer software and point-of-sale systems.
  • Physical ability to perform light maintenance tasks and stand for extended periods during tours.
  • Between the ages of 15 - 30 and legally able to work in Canada
